LightSheer Laser Hair Removal
We use the LightSheer laser for our laser hair removal treatments. This state-of-the-art laser is incredibly versatile, as it can remove unwanted hair from any part of the body. If you have unwanted hair on areas like your face, arms, neck, back, legs, shoulders, or chest, this is the perfect procedure for you!
Preparation
To get ready for our laser hair removal treatment, men are encouraged to not use tanning beds or tanning creams on the area intended for treatment. Do not let the region be exposed to a great deal of direct sunlight.
For a period of several weeks, men should avoid any plucking, electrolysis, waxing, or use of other hair-removal products on the area that will be targeted. These products affect the root of the hair, which must stay in place so that the treatment can work properly.
Shaving does not affect the hair’s root, only the part of the hair that is above the surface of the skin, and so shaving the area before treatment is encouraged. It will also be necessary to fully cleanse the treatment area in order to remove topical products.
Laser Hair Removal Procedure
Once preparation is complete, the LightSheer laser handpiece is held above the target area. Through this, energy pulses are delivered to the area.
Laser hair removal uses a process known as selective photothermolysis. This means that it employs various wavelengths of energy to specifically affect the target hair follicles without damaging other tissue. The energy only affects the melanin pigment in the hair follicles.
As the energy hits the hair follicle’s cells, it disables the follicle’s growth process so that it can no longer grow hairs. Patients report a tingling feeling and say that it can feel like the snap of a rubber band against the skin.
Laser hair removal for men can take between several minutes and a few hours; the length is impacted by the amount and size of the treatment areas. Two to three treatments will be necessary to account for hairs in the dormant stage of the growth cycle.
After Your Treatment
Immediately after laser hair removal, the patient will be able to resume their typical schedule without downtime. It will be important to take care of the treated skin with sunscreen and other skin care products. Patients will see results over the course of the following two weeks.
