What Is a Lymphatic Massage?

Also known as “lymphatic drainage massage” (or LDM), lymphatic massage is a specialized form of bodywork designed to encourage the flow of lymph fluid throughout the body. The lymphatic system is responsible for removing waste, toxins, and excess fluid from tissues, and is a vital component of the immune system.* Unlike traditional massages that focus on muscle relaxation, LDM uses light, rhythmic strokes to stimulate the lymph nodes and encourage natural drainage.

How Is a Lymphatic Massage Performed?

During your LDM session, one of our skilled providers will use gentle, targeted techniques to stimulate lymph flow and improve circulation. We will use light, rhythmic strokes to encourage the movement of lymph fluid towards the lymph nodes, where it can be processed and eliminated. 

Many patients find this treatment to be deeply relaxing, and it can be an enjoyable part of the recovery process if you have just undergone surgery. The treatment generally does not exceed an hour in length.
